The Sandwiese winery is located in Worms-Herrnsheim, where the Schäfer family produces unique, natural wines every year. This is also reflected in the imaginative labels, which feature a dachshund and divide the wines into "Short", "Long" and "Rough". You simply have to try Sandwiese wine.
This family of winegrowers has been involved in the cultivation of wine for several generations. Each generation has found a new approach to making wine their purpose in life. Today, the Sandwiese wine estate covers 30 hectares of vineyards, where red grapes such as Pinot Noir and Dornfelder thrive, as well as the white varieties Riesling, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Blanc. Various wines have already been awarded gold and silver chamber awards.
In the vineyard, the Sandwiese winery attaches great importance to natural methods. The best quality wine is guaranteed through various working methods. These include defoliation in the grape zone as well as selective harvesting. In the cellar, the winegrower relies on a combination of traditional and innovative pressing techniques. The white wines are fermented in a cool and aroma-preserving manner, while the red wines are mash-fermented in the traditional way. The wines are matured in both steel tanks and barriques.
Herrnsheimer Schloss and Wormser Nonnenwingert are among the best vineyards in the Sandwiese estate. Rich loam and loess soils as well as sandstone provide an excellent breeding ground for the wines from Sandwiese Herrnsheim.
